Teacher Appreciation Web Project

Well, the hubs and I are all finished with the site. I think it looks nice. It's simple, but it does what we need it to do. It took us about eight hours from start to finish. I will email a link if anyone wants to see the live site. I just didn't want to post it in a public forum since it's only intended for the parents of the class and has a live form that acts similar to making a reservation with no moderation.

Still have a million other things to do this week and next. We are doing door decorating and kids are going to make pen flowers and a mosaic pot, so I still have to have my creative juices flowing. I am also going to make her a mosaic garden stepping stone as part of her gift.

It was a fun project and best of all I got to work with my darling husband on it. That made it fun :)

Teacher's favorite color is green, so we made the site green. Tree is part of the theme "Branching out in Mrs. Morrison's class for the door decoration.

Mark's form came out really nice. The error messages fade in, if something is not filled out properly. It posts the reservation below like commenting and it sends an email to me and a confirmation to them. It's pretty cool. It also has security features that protect against packet injection and spam bots. Go Mark!

Thanks Mama! It's a simple page, but it's been about a year since I hand coded one from scratch. I have just been using templates and adjusting them and tweaking them to get them to look the way I want. I really enjoy starting from a blank sheet and making it look the way I want. Probably the same way for you with making a cake. You start with the raw ingredients and make something cool.

I wanted to get more elaborate, but I was pressed for time. I'm sure I will make adjustments here and there during the week, just for fun and practice.

oh yeah, it's tons more fun to start from scratch with an idea for a cake instead of trying to replicate some cake that the customer has seen somewhere else! about how long it takes me - i admit...it takes a long time, especially for cakes like the barnyard one with all the fondant modeling that i do by hand....i stayed up ALL NIGHT, friday night to complete both of these cakes - and that's not counting baking time or some prep work (making homemade fondant, my homemade butter cream, etc.) that i did on thursday night....but it sure was nice to get it all done and delivered on saturday - leaving the rest of my weekend free

thx so much for all the allergy info! i'm going to check on the drops - curtis & i were already discussing whether we thought it was safe to use drops in her eyes - good to know there's one out there that helps with allergies...and the pollen count thing - genius! if i had known u deal with allergies, i would have come straight to u - of course u'd know all the best sites on the topic! ;0)

did u get the gas fire pit? how's CA weather right now?
