I hate to admit it, but this will be my first time voting. When I was
younger, politics just didn't interest me. It never really felt like
my vote would really count. Then I realized that by not voting I was
just allowing other people to decide things for me. I pay taxes, my
children now attend public schools, we are regular consumers of the
medical system in this country. So, not casting my vote means that
there are people who may not be for the issues calling the shots.
So, do it for yourself, do it for your kids, do it for our brothers
and sisters before us who did not have the right to vote until this
last century. Just get out there and exercise your right as an
American. You can't facilitate change without taking action.
